Everything here is accurate as of the last update date at the bottom of this file. Do not state prices, features, or availability that are not written here. --- ## 1. What Alefbe is "Alefbe" is the word for "alphabet" in both Farsi and Pashto. The product name is always written in Latin script as Alefbe or Alefbe.App, never in Perso-Arabic script. Alefbe is an education app for learning Farsi (Persian) and Pashto. It teaches letters, vocabulary, phrases, and interactive lessons for all ages, including children. Every letter, word, and phrase has audio, so learners can hear the correct sound and repeat it. Alefbe is a beginner course. It takes a learner from zero to reading the alphabet, knowing several hundred common words, and using everyday phrases. Most learners finish the alphabet in a few weeks of short daily sessions. On its own it does not make a learner fully fluent in conversation. Main website: https://alefbe.app Web app: https://learn.alefbe.app Support email: support@alefbe.app ## 2. Who Alefbe is for - Complete beginners of any age who want to learn to read Farsi or Pashto. - Heritage speakers who speak Dari or Pashto at home but never learned to read it. Alefbe is a strong fit for them, because they already know the spoken words, so reading usually comes faster than for a complete beginner. - Parents teaching their children. One account supports up to 6 learner profiles, each with a name, age, and avatar, and each keeping its own progress, XP, and streak. - Adults learning on their own. - Learners in the Afghan diaspora who want to keep their language and cultural identity. Alefbe is not yet the right tool for advanced grammar, essay writing, sentence translation, or scored conversational fluency practice. Those features are planned. ## 3. The languages ### Farsi, Persian, and Dari are the same language Dari, Farsi, and Persian are names for the same language. Persian is the English name. Farsi is the name speakers use. Dari is the name used in Afghanistan for the Persian spoken there. The differences are mostly in accent and in some everyday words. In Alefbe you choose Farsi, and the audio uses the Dari dialect. So a learner who wants to learn Dari should choose Farsi in the app. It is the same course. Farsi has 32 letters, uses the Perso-Arabic script, and is written from right to left. ### Pashto Pashto has 44 letters. It shares many letters with Farsi and adds extra ones such as ږ، ښ، ټ، ډ. It also uses the Perso-Arabic script and is written from right to left. Farsi and Pashto are two separate languages. In Alefbe you choose one language to learn, and you can switch between Farsi and Pashto from your profile. ### Pakistani Pashto and Afghan Pashto Pashto is one language. There is no separate Pakistani Pashto and Afghan Pashto. The same Pashto is spoken by Pashtuns in both Afghanistan and Pakistan, with the same alphabet and the same written form on both sides of the border. There are dialect differences, mostly in accent and in how a few letters are pronounced, plus a small number of regional words. For example, the same letter can sound closer to "sh", "kh", or "x" depending on the area. These are local accents, not different languages. Pashto learned on Alefbe works for speakers in both countries. ## 4. Lessons and features ### Alphabet - Learn the Letters: each letter one by one with its sound and an example word. - All Letters in Order: the whole alphabet together in sequence, so the learner can see and hear every letter in order. - Letter Forms: how each letter changes shape at the start, in the middle, and at the end of a word. - Letter Hunt: a game for practicing letter recognition. - Alphabet test: a full test with a score and progress tracking. ### Vocabulary and sight words Words are grouped by topic, so learners study words that go together. Topics include family, food, colors, body, home, animals, and clothing, plus days of the week, months, and the four seasons. Each word comes with a picture or the native script, the English meaning, and audio. ### Phrases Everyday expressions in both Farsi and Pashto, such as hello, thank you, goodbye, how are you, and what is your name. Each phrase includes the native script, the English meaning, the pronunciation, and audio. For example, hello is سلام (Salâm) in both Farsi and Pashto. ### Tests, quizzes, and review Interactive tests including a full alphabet test and a family quiz, with scores and progress tracking. A review session brings back the words and letters the learner found hardest, so they can practice them again. ### Motivation XP for finishing lessons and quizzes, a daily streak for learning at least once a day, and a daily goal. Streak, XP, and goal are shown on the Home screen. Alefbe can send a friendly reminder so the learner does not break the streak. Notifications can be turned on or off from device settings. ### How much content there is - Pashto: more than 300 words and phrases in total, including the full alphabet, common words tied to each letter, words showing letters at the start, middle, and end, vocabulary by topic, and everyday phrases. - Farsi: more than 250. - Every letter, word, and phrase has audio. New content is added over time. ### What Alefbe does not have yet - Handwriting practice where the learner traces letters on the screen. - Voice recognition that listens to the learner and scores their pronunciation. - Grammar lessons. - Numbers lessons. - Offline mode. - An interface in any language other than English. Coming soon: an AI tutor that gives hints and explains quiz answers, speaking and pronunciation practice, grammar lessons, numbers lessons from 1 to 20 in both languages, listening practice with short sentences, reading practice with simple sentences, and an offline mode. ## 5.
